Family First.

We are Heather, Joe, Lily, Sophie, John, and Stella Olson. In 2020, we made the decision to move from the suburbs of Madison, WI, to Bloomer, WI, where Joe grew up.

Heather and Joe met at UW-Madison, where Heather was studying nursing and Joe was learning to be an engineer. We were married in 2007, the same year Heather graduated and became a labor and delivery nurse. In 2008, Joe graduated and commissioned into the U.S. Marine Corps. After four years of active duty and moving around duty stations, we moved back to Waunakee, WI with our two oldest daughters in tow. Over eight years, we grew our family into the six while having endless adventures in and around Madison.

In 2020, while spending the summer at our cabin on Lower Long Lake, we decided to make a permanent move “up north.” The stars aligned to provide an opportunity for us to purchase a beautiful farmstead in Bloomer.

Always quick to say “yes” and figure out the “how” later, we quickly dove head first into bringing animals back to the farm. Starting with chickens, we quickly expanded into Scottish Highland cattle, when an opportunity arose. We’re always learning and trying to provide experiences for our family while building a level of self-sufficiency and sustainability.

In 2022, we helped rekindle and start farmers’ markets in the Bloomer area. In 2023 we will open our on-farm store!

Come visit our farm.

We’d love for you to stop by to visit us, our animals, or just take a walk in the woods.
